Amit Shah visit key aspects: ‘A-whole-of-government’ strategy to root out terror networks in J&K
Srinagar, Apr 10: In order to tackle the terror related incidents, a multi-pronged approach to dismantle the terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir will be strictly followed and security measures are being enhanced to sustain peace and stability in Union Territory. "The visit of Honourable HM has a clear message—there is no room for terrorism, separatism and anti-national in Jammu and Kashmir.
We are using a whole-of government approach to eliminate terror networks and their support systems," a high-ranking security official told Greater Kashmir.
In order to counter terrorist activities, the officials added, security forces have stepped up operations against terrorists and their sympathizers in J&K. "Our forces are carrying out effective, ongoing, and sustained operations against terrorists and their support networks," he stated. "We are taking stringent action against those who give shelter, money, or logistical support to terrorist organizations." The anti-terror financing drive continues to be an important part of the strategy. According to officials, properties of terrorists and their supporters are being attached under applicable provisions of the law.
"We have stepped up action against those funding terrorism. The attachment of properties and the prohibition of anti-national organizations are being done according to legal provisions," the official said. Apart from hitting financial networks, preventive action has been intensified. "Targeting the strategic associates of terrorism and unmasking their means of supporting and facilitating terror operations is an important priority. A number of cases have been filed against those engaged in such activities," another high-ranking official said. On the operational side, the counter-insurgency grid has been strengthened, infiltration points are being watched closely, and round-the-clock security checkpoints (nakas) have been established at key points. "We have intensified Cordon and Search Operations (CASO) to address the increasing challenges of terrorist groups," an Army official said. "Security forces are operating in close coordination, with real-time intelligence sharing to neutralize threats effectively."
Security equipment modernization is another priority for the authorities. "We are ensuring our forces are equipped with the latest combat and surveillance technology to counter any emerging threat effectively," said a top police official adding that they have decided to expedite the process of identifying and seizing properties belonging to individuals involved in terrorist and anti-national activities.
“Coordinated effort is underway across districts to pinpoint such elements, with security agencies and the revenue department working jointly to compile lists,” the official said adding that the steps aim to send a strong message and curb support systems for terrorism and separatism in J&K. “The identification process is in full swing and action will be taken under relevant legal provisions,” an official said. The government has already seized properties of several individuals linked to terror activities, and more such actions are expected in the coming weeks.
