A Tribute to a Noble Soul
In my journey as a geriatrician, I have been privileged to meet many senior patients. Each has left an impression, but a select few leave an indelible mark on your heart and soul. One such remarkable person was a noble lady, the wife of Mr Siraj Mirani and the mother of Mr Wajih Mirani. Her unwavering faith and gentle demeanor made her truly exceptional.
During one of our medical conversations, despite her frailty and illness, she reassured me with calm conviction, saying, "I am fine, Alhamdulillah, in all conditions. They (her attendants) should not worry." Even in discomfort, her focus was not on herself but on putting others at ease. It was deeply moving to witness her remarkable patience and gratitude.
Whether seated or standing, her lips continually uttered the name of Allah, a reflection of her deep trust in the Creator. Her submission to His will was not mere verbal expression; it resonated from the depths of her being. Every word she spoke bore the weight of sincere faith. Yet, Allah, the Knower of all things, had different plans for her.
In her final moments at the hospital, as her breaths grew shallow, she continued to murmur the name of Allah. Her last words were the blessed testimony: La ilaha illallah. Few are so fortunate to leave this world with such purity of devotion, their tongues adorned with the remembrance of their Lord. Truly, hers was a soul blessed.
She was not only a devout believer but also an inspiration for kindness and goodness. A mother of exemplary character, she nurtured her children with values rooted in humanity and faith. She was just and fair to everyone, embodying compassion in her interactions.
The stories of her kindness, as shared by my relatives who were her neighbors, serve as an inspiration. Whether it was her gentle words or her quiet acts of generosity, her life was a validation to the beauty of a heart that seeks to spread goodness. She was a woman who harbored no ill intentions and had only the best wishes for all.
Her passing is not just a loss for her family but for everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. As we remember her legacy, we pray that Allah, the Most Merciful, grants her the highest place in Jannah. May her soul rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the blessings she so richly deserves.
She reminded us, through her life and her death, of the power of unwavering faith, gratitude, and the importance of leaving behind a legacy of goodness. In her passing, she leaves us with a lesson: to live in remembrance of Allah and to depart this world with His name on our lips.
