Jammu, Feb 28 : Director General of Police (DGP) R R Swain today said that the appointment of Special Director General of Police A K Choudhary as chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) is an endorsement of a blemish free, illustrious career of integrity and professional hard work.

According to a press release, he was speaking at the farewell function, hosted by Police Headquarters in Jammu, for A K Choudhary.

“Shri A K Choudhary’s confirmation as chairman of the prestigious position of the Public Service Commission is truly a vindication and endorsement of a blemish free, illustrious career of integrity and professional hardwork. It also is a matter of immense pride to all police officers serving as well as for retired officers that one of our own colleagues has been considered for the position which again is an endorsement of the policeman’s hardwork and contribution to public service, “ DGP Swain said. He added that Choudhary is the personification of simplicity, accessibility, and an assuming personality who one can rely to in matters of work and in personal relations.

The DGP said that Choudhary would not be technically with the police department but he will be in a higher position to influence public service in a far more impactful manner. He said that Police Pariwar will continue to remain with Shri Choudhary. He said that police officers will always look forward for the advice and guidance on subjects where he has gained rich expertise during more than three decades of service in the department. The DGP on behalf of all extended family of police fraternity extended greetings and best wishes to the officer and his family and hoped that he will do exceedingly well in his next assignment.

In his address A K Choudhary expressed his deepest gratitude to the officers for their kind words and appreciation. Recalling his journey in J&K Police, he said that more than 32 years of service in J&K Police has been a memorable journey for him. He said when he joined J&K cadre, things were very challenging and added that with the constant efforts of J&K Police and other security forces things have completely changed now.

The bond shared among the ranks of the Police force, he added, has been exceptional, which has undoubtedly contributed to the overall success of the force, he observed. Choudhary also recognised and appreciated the valuable contributions of the various officers and team members with whom he had the opportunity to work with. He assured that he will be available for J&K Police Pariwar as and when required stating that "once a policeman, always a policeman.”
