919 staffers of education department found absent, served explanation notice

Rajouri, Nov 3: At least 919 staff members of School Education Department, both from teaching and non teaching wings, were found ‘absent’ on digital attendance platform after which the officials were served explanation notices by administration.

Beside offline attendance mode as well as biometric attendance mode, the School Education Department is following a face-attendance platform also which is referred to as JK Smart Attendance App.

An employee marks attendance through this platform in a digital mode through facial recognition system.

A dedicated cell of district administration Rajouri headed by District Statistical and Evaluation Officer (DSEO) Rajouri, Sandeep Sharma conducted a surprise monitoring and supervision of this attendance system.

As per officials, 919 employees of both teaching and non-teaching wings were found absent from duty as per this application and this was viewed seriously by district administration Rajouri.

“The Deputy Commissioner Rajouri has expressed serious concern over this large-scale absenteeism and has directed the education department to seek explanation from all concerned officials who have been found absent,” the officials stated.

The Chief Education Officer Rajouri has been asked to submit a detailed report along with the individual explanations.
