9 vehicles seized for illegal mining in Baramulla

Baramulla, June 15: Cracking a whip on illegal mining of minerals at Palhallan Pattan Baramulla, Police seized 9 vehicles and arrested their drivers.

A Police party under the supervision of SDPO Pattan assisted by IC PP Palhallan, seized 9 vehicles (Tippers) and arrested 9 drivers identified as Abdul Rashid Lone, resident of Shiva Sopore, Nazir Ahmad Ganie, resident of Gantamulla Payeen, Afeer Ahmad Bhat, resident of Mujgund Srinagar, Nazir Ahmad Reshi, resident of Hardu Shiva Sopore, Tariq Ahmad Lone, Mudasir Farooq Mir, Rayees Ahmad Geelani, all residents of Batangi Boniyar, Rayees Ahmad Malik, resident of Tujar Sharief Sopore and Gh Nabi Sheikh resident of Jawand Nowshera.

They were found involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals and accordingly a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pattan and investigation has been initiated.
