8-year-old boy crushed to death by tractor in Beerwah

Budgam, Sep 28: An eight-year-old boy was killed in a tragic accident involving a tractor in Watalpora village of Beerwah in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Fida Hussain Dar, son of Mohammad Rafiq Dar. Officials said the incident occurred when the child accidentally came under a moving tractor and sustained critical injuries. He died on the spot.

Police said that a team rushed to the location soon after receiving the report. The boy was shifted to a nearby health facility, where doctors declared him brought dead. “Legal proceedings have been initiated and further investigation is underway,” a police officer told Kashmir News Trust.

Locals said the accident has raised concerns about the frequent movement of tractors and other heavy vehicles in residential areas. They appealed to vehicle operators to exercise extreme caution and to parents to remain vigilant about children’s safety.

The body was handed over to the family after medico-legal formalities.
