8 trains originating from Jammu among 15 being restored from today

Jammu, Oct 1: Eight trains originating from Jammu Station, are among the fifteen trains being restored - after having remained cancelled or short terminated for over a month - by Jammu Railway Division of the Northern Railway, in the fourth phase from tomorrow, October 2, 2025.

These trains were among over 70 trains cancelled or terminated before their destinations in the aftermath of recent torrential rains, flash floods and landslides in different areas of Jammu Railway Division.

After periodic review of various sections so as to ensure train safety and that of passengers, the Northern Railway has started resumption of these trains in phases.

In the fourth phase, the railway division has announced plans to resume operation of sixteen trains, either originating from Jammu (Tawi) Railway Station or terminating there.

Out of sixteen, one train i.e., train number 15653 Guwahati-Jammu Tawi Amarnath Express resumed operation on October 1, 2025.

The rest of fifteen trains, including all eight trains originating from Jammu Station, are being restored from October 2, 2025 after the Divisional Railway Manager Jammu, Vivek Kumar and other officials conducted a review of track and safety of passengers.

As per schedule issued by the division, Jammu originating trains to be restored will be train number 12470 (Jammu Tawi - Kanpur) from October 2, 2025; train number 14606 (Jammu Tawi - Yoga Nagari Rishikesh) to be operational from October 5, 2025; train number 14692 (Jammu Tawi-Barauni) from October 3; train number 22318 (Jammu-Sealdah) from October 8; train number 15654 (Jammu Tawi- Guwahati) from October 3; train number 12588 (Jammu Tawi - Gorakhpur) from October 4; train number 15098 (Jammu Tawi-Bhagalpur) from October 7 and train number 15652 (Jammu Tawi-Guwahati) from October 8, 2025.

Seven trains, terminating at Jammu Railway Station, resuming operation in the fourth phase include 12469 Kanpur Central-Jammu Tawi Express from October 3; train number 14605 Yog Nagari Rishikesh-Jammu Tawi Express from October 6; train number 14691 Barauni Junction-Jammu Tawi Mour Dhwaj Express from October 5; train number 22317 Sealdah-Jammu Tawi Humsafar Express from October 6; train number 15097 Bhagalpur Junction-Jammu Tawi Amarnath Express from October 2; train number 12587 Gorakhpur Junction- Jammu Tawi Amarnath Express from October 6 and Guwahati-Jammu Tawi Lohit Express also from October 6, 2025.

Earlier Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) Jammu Railway Division Uchit Singhal had said that the train operations in the division were gradually being normalized as soon as the technical work on the railway track and railway bridges was completed. “To avoid any inconvenience, passengers are advised to check the train schedules on the Northern Railway website or the relevant helpline numbers,” he suggested.

Meanwhile, Jammu Railway Division generated revenue of approximately Rs 30 lakh through ticket checking in the month of September, 2025.

“In the Jammu (Railway) division of Northern Railway, under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Vivek Kumar and the leadership of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal, the ticket checking staff of the division conducts intensive ticket checking in trains to curb ticketless and irregular travel to provide comfortable travel and better services to all genuine rail users,” Public Relations Inspector Jammu Division, Raghvender Singh said.

Senior DCM Jammu, Uchit Singhal stated that during the ticket checking drive in September 2025, the division's checking staff and Chief Ticket Inspectors apprehended 5,436 passengers for irregular travel and collected fines of approximately Rs 30 lakh.

“Railway officials also conduct regular surprise ticket checking drives to prevent unauthorized entry of passengers onto trains, where passengers are advised to travel with valid tickets,” he said.

"The division’s checking staff has performed exceptionally well in apprehending illegal travellers and imposing appropriate fines on them. This demonstrates the success of the railway's crackdown on illegal travel,” Singhal said.
