Srinagar, Sep 21: In a significant milestone, eight distinguished faculty members from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar have been recognised among the world’s top 2% scientists, according to Stanford University’s prestigious database.

A statement said that this recognition, based on standardized citation indicators including total citations, h-index, and composite c-scores, places these faculty members in the global spotlight for their academic contributions.

The honorees in the 2024 database include Dr Neeraj Gupta (Electrical Engineering), Dr Vijay Kumar (Physics), Dr Pravan Kumar Katiyar (Metallurgical and Materials Engineering), Dr Sandeep Rathee (Mechanical Engineering), Prof MA Shah (Physics), Dr Sparsh Sharma (Computer Science), Dr Sandeep Samantaray (Civil Engineering), and Ikhlaq Hussain (Electrical Engineering).

Expressing his pride, NIT Srinagar Director, Prof.A. Ravinder Nath, stated, “It is a proud moment for the institute to have these distinguished scientists among us. Their contributions enrich academia and drive innovation across multiple scientific disciplines.”

Registrar Prof Atikur Rahman also congratulated the faculty members, adding, “Their global recognition brings immense pride to our institution, and it’s encouraging to see their impact on both national and international platforms.”

Stanford University’s list, regarded as one of the most prestigious, highlights the top 2% of scientists based on academic influence across 22 scientific fields and 176 subfields, out of over 10 million active scientists worldwide.
