8 encounters in 40 days

Srinagar, Dec 19: The security agencies have killed 14 terrorists in eight anti-terrorist operations launched in the last 40 days across Kashmir.

Around eight terrorists were killed during six operations in the first nine days of November.

Later, on December 3, a terrorist who was wanted in the October 20 Gagangeer, Sonamarg tunnel attack was killed in a gunfight with the Police and security forces in Dachigam forests.

Earlier, in the first nine days of November, around eight terrorists were killed.

As per the details, a terrorist was killed in the Rajpora, Spore encounter on November 9 while two terrorists were killed in the Sagipora, Sopore encounter on November 8, 2024.

Earlier, a terrorist was killed in a Lolab encounter while an AK series rifle was recovered from him.

On November 6, 2024, a terrorist was killed while two security personnel were injured in the Bandipora encounter on November 5, 2024.

The security forces in a joint operation killed the LeT commander while four security personnel were injured in a Khanyar encounter on November 2.

On the same day, two terrorists were killed in a gunfight while M4 rifles, AK-47 rifles, grenades, and three IEDs were recovered during a gunfight in the Shangus area of Anantnag.

With the killing of five terrorists in the Kulgam encounter on Thursday, the number of terrorists neutralised in the last 40 days has reached 14.

On December 19, the security agencies achieved a breakthrough for launching a successful operation which resulted in the killing of five Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorists, including one of the longest-serving commanders, Farooq Ahmed Bhat, in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

A top official said that it was a major achievement for all the security agencies that almost every operation launched by the security agencies in the last less than two months was successful.

“This was possible due to the proper coordination and synergy maintained by all the security agencies and we achieved the success,” the official said.

Talking to Greater Kashmir, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Range, Vidhi Kumar Birdi said it was a significant development for the J&K Police that successful operations were launched in the last 40 days which resulted in the killing of 14 terrorists.

“The killing of the longest surviving terrorist in the Kulgam encounter was a major achievement,” IGP Kashmir told Greater Kashmir.
