8 drivers arrested in Baramulla for illegal transportation of minerals

Baramulla, Jan  25: Cracking a whip on illegal mining of minerals in Baramulla, Police have seized eight vehicles and arrested their drivers.

Police parties of PP Delina and PP Palhalan, seized 8 vehicles (3 tippers and 5 tractors) and arrested 8 drivers for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Chakloo, Delina Ghat and Palpora Palhallan Baramulla.

They have been identified as Mohammad Nadeem Dar resident of Kokathal Kreeri, Basit Ahmad Ganie resident of Garkote Uri, Mashooq Ahmad Dar resident of Kungamdara Pattan, Khursheed Ahmad Dar, Towfeeq Ahmad Malik, Mushtaq Ahmad Malik, all residents of Delina Ghat Baramulla, Bilal Ahmad Rather resident of New Colony Palhallan and Jehangir Ahmad Bhat resident of Palhalan Baramulla.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.

“Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt with as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units,” police said.
