Srinagar, Aug 23: Eight candidates on Friday filed their nomination papers for the Phase I of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls scheduled for September 18.

Four candidates filed their nominations in three assembly constituencies – 38-D H Pora, 39-Kulgam, and 40-Devsar of Kulgam district.

Among these candidates, Sakeena Itoo from the National Conference (NC) and Abdul Majeed Padder from the Apni party submitted their nomination papers for 38-D H Pora in the office of the Returning Officer.

In 39-Kulgam, Nazir Ahmad Laway from the Peoples Conference (PC) filed his nomination papers.

Muhammad Sartaj Madni from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) submitted his nomination papers in 40-Devsar.

One candidate filed his nomination for 44-Anantnag.

Mehboob Beg from PDP submitted his nomination papers to the office of the Returning Officer.

This was the first nomination filed so far in district Anantnag.

Two candidates filed their nomination papers in the Ramban district.

According to Returning Officers for Assembly Constituencies 54-Ramban and 55-Banihal, two candidates filed their nomination papers.

The candidates, Imtiaz Ahmad Shan from PDP, filed his nomination papers in 55-Banihal and Suteesh Kumar filed his nomination papers as an independent candidate from 54-Ramban.

One candidate filed his nomination papers in the Doda district.

NC candidate Khalid Najeeb Surawardhy filed his nomination papers from the Doda assembly constituency,

The candidates can submit their nominations by August 27 up to 3 pm.

These assembly constituencies are scheduled to go for polls in Phase I of the J&K assembly elections on September 18.
