In a message posted by the Prime Minister’s Office on X, PM Modi said: “The loss of lives due to a fire tragedy at a hospital in Jaipur, Rajasthan, is deeply saddening. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon.”

The fire, which is suspected to have been triggered by a short circuit, erupted in the trauma ICU located on the hospital’s second floor around 11:15 p.m. According to hospital officials, dense smoke quickly filled the ward, trapping several patients—many of them unconscious and on ventilator support. Firefighters and hospital staff worked through the night to bring the blaze under control and rescue those trapped inside. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma visited the hospital shortly after the incident to review rescue and relief efforts. Relatives of patients described scenes of panic and confusion, ANI reported . The Rajasthan government has ordered a high-level inquiry to determine the exact cause of the fire and to investigate any lapses in electrical safety and maintenance.
