Jammu, Nov 12: Jammu and Kashmir’s young Taekwondo players swept the medals at the ongoing 69th National School Games U-19 Boys Taekwondo Championship being held at the Indoor Sports Complex, Bhagwati Nagar. With the addition of medals won by Ayaan Mahajan, Harris Gulzar, Arslan Wazir, and Saksham Sharma, J&K’s tally has risen to an impressive and historic seven medals.

As per a statement issued by DYSS on Wednesday, the Championship is being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS), under the aegis of the School Games Federation of India (SGFI), led by the Director General, Youth Services and Sports, J&K.

In the U-19 Boys-48 KG category, Gourav GC of Haryana clinched Gold, while Dheerandera of Joshi took Silver. The bronze medals were shared by Kishan Devaraj of Karnataka and Harris Gulzar of Jammu and Kashmir.

In the +78 KG bronze category, Ranjeet Singh Rathod of KVS bagged Gold, and Ayaan Mahajan of Jammu and Kashmir secured Silver.

In the U-19 Boys -68 KG category, Akhil Kumar of Haryana won Gold, Prince Konjoiya of Uttar Pradesh took Silver, and the Bronze medals were bagged by Saksham Sharma of Jammu and Kashmir along with MD Armaan of Bihar.

The bronze medals were awarded to Arslan Wazir of Jammu and Kashmir and Dev Khandelwal of Madhya Pradesh.

The medal ceremony for the -68 KG and +78 KG categories was presided over by the Organising Secretary of the Championship, Vinakshi Koul, Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports Jammu.
