60 progressive orchardists flagged off to CoE Zawoora

Ganderbal, Feb 17: A significant milestone was marked in the agricultural sector of Ganderbal today as a group of 60 progressive orchardists embarked on a journey to the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Zawoora, Srinagar, under the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) 2023-24 programme.

The flag-off ceremony, graced by the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Ganderbal, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani and Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Gulzar Ahmad, along with senior officers from the Horticulture and allied departments, took place at the Mini-Secretariat Ganderbal.

Speaking on the occasion, the ADDC said that the core objective of the tour is to acquaint orchardists with the latest advancements in the horticulture sector. Through exposure to technologies such as the production of Designer High-Density Plants, rootstock, nursery growing, and protected cultivation, the aim is to foster meaningful employability within the sector, benefitting both seasoned orchardists and aspiring youth.

This initiative underscores the commitment of the administration to empower and equip stakeholders in the agricultural domain with the knowledge and tools necessary to thrive in an ever-evolving landscape.
