6 structures damaged in rainfall

Rajouri, Feb 19: Six structures in Surankote sub division of Poonch have suffered damages in the heavy rainfall that is going on in the areas since Sunday early morning.

No loss of life occurred in these incidents but some families have suffered loss of their properties due to collapse of structures.

Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Surankote, Farooq Khan told that rainfall in areas of division is going on in Sunday early morning where as the upper reaches are receiving snowfall.

The officers said that as per the reports provided by the field staff six structures have suffered damage due to collapse in the rainfall during last one day.

SDM Surankote, however, said that fortunately no loss of life has taken place in these incidence and there is only the loss of property.

"We have apprehension that more structures especially Kacha houses might have received damage due to heavy rainfall but the information will only be clear once the weather improves," he said.

SDM Surankote also appealed the people to follow all the important advisories issued by the administration and to refrain from moving close to slide prone, avalanche prone areas and water bodies.
