6 drivers arrested in Baramulla for illegal mining of minerals
Baramulla, May 5: Cracking a whip on illegal mining and transportation of minerals, Police have seized 6 vehicles and arrested 6 drivers in Baramulla.
Police parties under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla/ SDPO Pattan/ Tangmarg assisted by SHO PS Baramulla/ SHO PS Tangmarg and Incharge PP Palhallan seized 6 vehicles (2 tractors and 4 tippers), and arrested 6 drivers involved in illegal mining and transportation of minerals at Khanpora, Shrai and Dargam areas of Baramulla.
The accused drivers have been identified as Abdul Hamid Dar , resident of Khanpora, Manzoor Ahmad Dar, resident of Ijara Pehlipora, Asif Shafi Dar, resident of Drangbal, Mushtaq Ahmad Magray, resident of Shrai, Mohammad Shafi Ganie , resident of Gulab Bagh Reram and Waqar Ahmad Bhat, resident of Naidkhai.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been taken up.
“People are requested not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any nallah/river as it is a violation of government rules. Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law,” police said.
