5 from Kupwara deported via Attari-Wagah border
Kupwara, May 1: Five Pakistani nationals who were residing in north Kashmir's Kupwara district were deported on Thursday.
A senior Police officer told Greater Kashmir that four persons including a woman residing in the Kupwara Police district and a person based in Handwara Police district were repatriated to Pakistan via the Attari-Wagah border.
These individuals had been living here for several years. Their deportation was carried out in line with directives from the central government, the officer said.
The move comes following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 persons.
Following the attack, the Centre ordered the deportation of Pakistani nationals residing across the country.
As part of this drive, a crackdown has seen scores of Pakistani citizens expelled over the past five days.
