5 doctors of GMC Rajouri suspended

Rajouri, Dec 24: Five doctors of Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri have been placed under suspension and attached with the office of Medical Superintendent of Associated Hospital.

Two doctors are also among 10 personnel have been served show cause notice.

The action has been taken up by the management of Medical College in wake up death of a woman from Badhaal whose death has sparked concern amid allegations of lack of proper care. Razim Akhter (35) wife of of Mohammad Rafiq resident of Badhaal Kotranka died in GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri on Sunday afternoon.

Pregnant with five and half months, woman suffered with some medical issues concerning urine flow following which she was brought in hospital at Kandi and later referred to GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri. MLA Budhal Javed Iqbal Choudhary has already expressed his concern over this incident while Former MLA Rajouri Choudhary Qamar Hussain also addressed a press conference on Tuesday calling for action against any kind of medical negligence.

Meanwhile, the management of Government Medical College Rajouri has placed under suspension five doctors who were on duty when deceased woman was under treatment in GMC Hospital.  The doctors include Dr Veenu Bharti and Dr Neetu of Department of Obes. & Gynae, Dr Shakir Ahmed Parray, Dr Shafkat Ulla and Dr Anif Saleem Rather of Department of Casualty.

All these five doctors were on night duty in the intervening night of Sunday and Monday when deceased woman remained under treatment in Emergency Ward of GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri.

Besides, two doctors including one from Department of Obes & Gynae and one from Department of Surgery have been served show cause notice alongwith eight other officials from paramedic and supporting staff.  These officials have been asked to furnish their replies before Principal GMC Rajouri as why action should not be initiated against them.

Pertinent to mention here that deceased woman, who was 35 years old, had lost her three children due to mysterious illness last week.
