5 absconders arrested: Police

Ramban, Mar 31: Last week, Police in Ramban arrested five absconders, one of whom evaded arrest for the last 28 years.

SSP Ramban Anuj Kumar constituted special Police teams to apprehend the absconders wanted in various cases.

The police teams in the Police Sub-Division Ramban apprehended five absconders wanted in various case FIRs of Police Station Ramban, Chanderkote, and Batote.

The Police team of Police Station Batote apprehended an absconder Ashwani Kumar of Rehari Colony, Jammu wanted in case FIR No 82 of 1994 under Section 279 of 304-A RPC.

He had been evading arrest for the last 28 years.

A general warrant of arrest was also issued by the court under Section 512 CrPc against Devendra Nath accused in the year 1996. The Police team of Police Station Ramban apprehended three absconders wanted in three different cases.

They said Parvaz Ahmed alias Papu Pathan of Gopalpura, Shiv Madaan, Anantnag was wanted in case FIR No 130 of 2017 under Section 188 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) and 3 PCA Act; Shabir Ahmed of Nabul Balihote, Ramban who was wanted in case FIR No  3 of 2022 under Section 457/389/201 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC); and Muhammad Afzal of Jasrota Kathua who was wanted in case FIR No 101 of 2022 under Section 188  and 109 of IPC and 3 PCA Act of Police Station Ramban.

The Police team of Police Station Chanderkote apprehended an absconder Riyaz Ahmad of Patel Bagh, Pampore, Pulwama wanted in case FIR No 57 of 2015 under Sections 379, 341, 34, and 413 of RPC.

They said all the five accused persons were absconding and evading their arrests with a motive to avoid legal proceedings.

All the accused persons were produced before the local courts at Batote, Ramban for judicial determinations.
