4th generation in politics: Mian Altaf’s son Mehar Ali files nomination papers from Kangan
Srinagar, Sep 02: Mehar Ali, son of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) senior leader and Member of Parliament, Mian Altaf, on Monday filed his nomination from Kangan seat.
The JKNC vice president, Omar Abdullah said that he was confident of Ali’s victory, “given the fact that he is from the fourth generation of his family to contest in elections.”
“I am sure he will follow his ancestors and father in serving the people. He will carry forward the legacy,” said Omar.
Over the visit of BJP senior leader Ram Madhav to J&K, Omar said that Madhav has good connections with PDP, and “seems the man is still in touch with the party ahead of Assembly elections in Jammu & Kashmir.”
“He was the man behind stitching the PDP-BJP alliance in 2015,” Omar Abdullah told reporters after his party candidate Mehar Ali filed his nomination from Kangan Assembly seat.
