4th edition of Jashn-e-Manasbal showcases Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage
Srinagar, Nov 8: The 4th edition of Jashn-e-Manasbal was successfully organised at the Open Air Theatre, Manasbal, by Manasbal Dramatics and the Wular and Manasbal Development Authority (WMDA) in collaboration with the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and the Department of Information and Public Relations.
The event drew an enthusiastic audience who were captivated by the soulful performances of acclaimed singers Suhail Fayaz Shilwati and Khursheed Ahmed Shah, setting a vibrant tone for an evening celebrating Kashmir’s rich cultural and artistic legacy.
Adding to the festive spirit, Manasbal Dramatics staged a full-length play, while Fayaz Ahmed Bhat and Party delivered an engaging qawwali performance. Karam Buland Theatre enriched the event with a classical shehnai vadan presentation. The programme was ably anchored by Nazir Azhar.
In his welcome address, Nisar Naseem said that Jashn-e-Manasbal aims to raise awareness among the youth about the Valley’s art, culture, and theatre traditions.
Ahsan-ul-Haq Chasti, Chief Executive Officer of WMDA and Chief Guest on the occasion, highlighted the importance of such cultural events in promoting Manasbal Lake as a hub of heritage and tourism. “These programmes not only preserve our culture but also draw attention to the tourism potential of Manasbal and its surrounding areas,” he said.
The Guest of Honour, Principal of Sainik School Manasbal, lauded the initiative and expressed appreciation for efforts to sustain local art and cultural activities.
A major highlight of the event was the release of Rafaqat, the seventh play collection by noted playwright Rashid Gamgeen, unveiled by the Chief Guest along with other dignitaries.
Veteran writer Mohammad Hussain Naqashbandi was also felicitated by Manasbal Dramatics for his outstanding contributions to Kashmiri literature and the performing arts.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Syed Imtiyaz Ahmed, marking the close of an evening that celebrated creativity, heritage, and artistic excellence at the scenic Manasbal Lake.
