4885 pilgrims embark on Amarnath Yatra from Jammu

Jammu, July 11: Fresh batch of around 5000 Yatris embarked on pilgrimage to holy cave shrine of Shri Amarnath in South Kashmir from Jammu base camp at Bhagwati Nagar on Thursday.

According to officials, the fourteenth batch of 4885 pilgrims, including 3622 males, 1086 females, 14 children, 111 Sadhus and 52 Sadhvis left for twin routes of Pahalgam and Baltal in 191 vehicles.

“Of them, 2991 pilgrims, comprising 2374 males, 521 females, 3 children, 81 Sadhus and 12 Sadhvis embarked on pilgrimage through the Pahalgam route in 105 vehicles. 1894 pilgrims, including 1248 males, 565 females, 11 children, 30 Sadhus and 40 Sadhvis opted for the Baltal route. They left Jammu base camp in 86 vehicles,” they informed.

Annual Yatra, which commenced on June 29, will culminate on August 19. On Wednesday, 4627 pilgrims, including 3422 males, 1027 females, 26 children, 137 Sadhus and 15 Sadhvis commenced their pilgrimage from Jammu base camp.

On Tuesday, 5433 pilgrims, including 4203 males, 1117 females, 18 children, 83 Sadhus and 12 Sadhvis had embarked on Shri Amarnath Yatra from Jammu.
