4 residential houses gutted in Uri
Baramulla, May 3: At least four residential houses were damaged in a fire incident in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday night.
An official said that the incident happened in the Thajal village of Uri. He said fire emanated from one of the residential houses in the village on Thursday night and soon spread to the nearby houses causing extensive damage to three houses and partial damage to other one.
Soon after the incident, the fire tenders from the nearby area besides the cops of the J&K police and locals rushed to the spot and started dousing the flames. However, owing to the wooden structure of the houses the flames spread fast and gutted four residential houses.
The affected families besides the local residents have urged the Baramulla district administration to provide compensation so that they can restart their life again.
“Although we have taken shelter in the relatives' houses, however, if the administration provides some compensation it will help us to rebuild our houses again,” said one of the affected persons.
