4 residential houses gutted in Kishtwar
Ramban, Oct 29: At least four residential houses were gutted in Kuchal, Mughal Maidan area of Kishtwar late Tuesday evening.
Officials said a fire broke out in Kuchal, Mughal Maidan area involving four residential houses.
They said fire tenders of Fire and Emergency Services from Kishtwar were dispatched to the area.
Officials said the firefighters made efforts to control the fire.
The fire broke out from a double-storey house in Raina, Mohalla, Kuchal that spread fast and engulfed four residential houses.
Arshad Naike, a resident of Kuchal, said that the owners of these houses were relatives and hopelessly saw flames emitting from their houses.
They said the fire was not controlled due to the non-availability of a water reservoir.
Locals said although a stream flows through the area, there was insufficient water in it.
A Police official at Police Station Chatroo said that no human loss or injury to any person was reported.
The cause of the fire was not ascertained immediately.
This was the third fire incident in Kishtwar district during the last few weeks.
On October 14, in a devastating fire incident in Mulwarwan village around 70 residential houses were destroyed, rendering 100 families homeless before the onset of winter.
On October 23, a Madrassa running in a private building in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar was also gutted.
The area is vulnerable to fire incidents.
