Srinagar, Oct 23: Several families were rendered homeless after fire destroyed four residential buildings in Hyhama of north Kashmir's Kupwara. In addition to these, the fire also damaged three shops and as many cowsheds.

Quoting officials, news agency KNO reported that the firefighters battled the flames for hours.

Five water tenders each from Fire Stations including, Payerpora, HQ Kupwara, Trehgam, Drugmulla, and Tekipora were called in to douse off the flames.

Fortunately, no injury or loss of life was reported.

The cause of fire is being ascertained, officials said.

The residents have expressed concerns over the devastating loss and are demanding an immediate compensation for the affected families.
