4 officers killed, 4 others injured in US shooting incident
New Delhi, Apr 30: Four law enforcement officers lost their lives in a shooting incident at a residence in Charlotte, North Carolina, while four others were hospitalised.
The officers were serving a warrant for possession of a firearm by a convicted criminal when they encountered gunfire from inside the house.
Three members of the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force were fatally shot, including one deputy US marshal. The deceased suspect, identified as 39-year-old Terry Clark Hughes, Jr., was wanted for multiple crimes. The investigation is ongoing, with two individuals being questioned by authorities.
The incident adds to the concerning trend of violence against law enforcement, with a record number of officers shot in the line of duty in recent years, reflecting broader societal challenges and tensions.
