New Delhi, Dec 5: The government has raised four new NCC units in the J&K and Ladakh over the past five years, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth informed the Lok Sabha on Friday.
He said several measures have been implemented to boost participation of girl cadets and improve the infrastructure for them.
These include upgrading training facilities, standardising the NCC curriculum and drill modules to ensure equal training opportunities, and increasing the induction of women Associate NCC Officers and Permanent Commissioned Officers.
The minister said that the presence of women ANOs, lady officers, trained women instructors and women medical staff has been made mandatory during camps to provide a safe and supportive environment.
Recruitment of NCC cadets into the Armed Forces and their subsequent progression is monitored separately by the three services, he said in a written reply to MP Bhola Singh.
