Ramban, Oct 30: Four persons were killed in two separate road accidents in Ramban and Reasi today.

Police sources said a Tipper (Dumper) bearing registration number UP85ET-4951 was on its way to Sungri from Bakori area of tehsil Chassana of Reasi district. It rolled down into several hundred feet at Ans rivulet in Gulabpura area in wee hours of Wednesday morning. The driver and another person died on the spot.

Police said bodies of both the deceased were recovered and shifted to nearby Hospital.

Police identified the deceased as Surinder Singh son of Gurdlal Singh residents of village Nangal Bhour,District, Pathankote, Gurdaspur and Munna Kumar son of Vindhyachal Parsad resident of Garkha Mahamda, Bihar.

In another accident two persons died on spot whereas four others sustained critical injuries after a car in which they were travelling rolled down into a stream near Magerkote on Srinagar Jammu National Highway on Wednesday morning.

Police sources said a car bearing registration number PB36J-3100 was on its way to Kashmir from Jammu went out of control of its driver and plunged into a 300 feet deep stream near Magerkote area of Ramsu Police Station jurisdiction on National Highway 44.

They said soon after the accident rescue teams of Police and local volunteers reached the spot and retrieved two bodies including a female and four injured persons from the gorge and shifted them to the PHC, Ramsu where from all the four injured were shifted to Sub district hospital Banihal for treatment. The injured were later referred to Associated Government Medical College and Hospital, Anantnag for specialised treatment.

Police said bodies of two deceased persons were kept in PHC Ukhral for identification.

Locals said the accident took place just after crossing tunnel T5, Panthyal and between Magarkote viaduct. They said an accident could have been avoided if crush barriers were installed at 90 degree diversion out tunnel T5, Panthyal area of Magarkote side. Locals held NHAI responsible for this fatal accident.

They have demanded to install crush barriers and sign boards between tunnel T5, and Magarkote, Ramsu area so that such type of accidents would be avoided in future. Police said identification of two deceased including a female was not established yet.
