4 J&K soft tennis players selected for final trials ahead of international championships
Srinagar, Feb 4: Jammu & Kashmir’s top soft tennis stars are set to make their mark on the international stage after excelling in selection trials held at Gindun Sports Stadium in Rajbagh Srinagar.
As per a press release issued on Tuesday, the open selection trials in connection with participation in final selection trials are being conducted by the Amateur Soft Tennis Federation of India w.e.f. 11-02-2025 to 13-02-2025 at Maninagar, Ahmadabad, Gujarat, for the participation of Indian teams in the 2nd India International Soft Tennis Championship and the 1st South Asian Soft Tennis Championship scheduled to be held at Greater Noida UP, India, w.e.f. 16-03-2025 to 25-03-2025.
The release states that after granting the ground permission from J&K Sports Council authorities (Sports Officer Kashmir Srinagar) and after a competitive selection process, four promising athletes—Basit Nabi Wani, Ubaid Hassan, Tahreem, and Mir Farah Noorani—secured their spots for the final selection trials.
These trials, organised by the Amateur Soft Tennis Federation of India, will determine India's squad for the 2nd India International Soft Tennis Championship and the 1st South Asian Soft Tennis Championship, set to take place in Greater Noida, UP.
The players selected by the selection committee were framed by the President of the J&K Amateur Soft Tennis Association and headed by Mr Raja G. N. Wani as Chairman.
The members of the committee conducted the selection trials at Gindun Sports Stadium Rajbagh Srinagar on 04-02-2025 and were monitored and supervised by Mr. Mohd Iqbal, Incharge Manager, Gindun Sports Stadium Rajbagh Srinagar.
The committee thanked the J&K Sports Council for providing every kind of assistance for the smooth and proper selection process of players belonging to different districts of J&K.
The statement added that the J&K Amateur Soft Tennis Association published the notice of selection trials in more than 4 leading daily newspapers of Jammu as well as Kashmir.
