4 drug peddlers arrested in separate incidents in kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 5: Police have arrested 4 drug peddlers in separate incidents in Kashmir.

Police arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam and Pulwama and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A police party of Police Station Qazigund during patrolling at Village Berigam intercepted a suspicious person carrying a polythene bag, who tried to flee after noticing the police party, but was apprehended tactfully. During the search, officers were able to recover 85 grams of charas like substance from his possession. He has been identified as Mohd Amin Dar, resident of Berigam. He has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody.

In Pulwama, acting on specific information regarding hoarding of contraband substance by one person namely Mohd Ayoub Rather resident of Frasipora Pulwama, at his house, police raided the house and recovered 10.4 Kgs of Charas powder like substance and arrested the accused person on the spot.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.

Meanwhile, police have arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A police party of Police Post Wussan at a checkpoint established at Wussan Chowk, intercepted a vehicle (Auto) bearing registration number JK01P-4705 with two persons on board. During the search, 2.15 kgs of poppy straw-like substances were recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Sahil Ahmad Sheikh resident of Sher Colony Sopore and Mudasir Ahmad Dar, resident of Jalalabad Sopore. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Pattan where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pattan and investigation has been initiated.

“We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” police said.
