4 drug peddlers arrested in Kulgam

Kulgam, Dec 29: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 4 drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A police party of Police Station Qazigund while patrolling near the R&B office intercepted two suspicious persons identified as Ravinder Singh and Satean Singh both residents of Jagrawan Ludhiana, Punjab carrying nylon bags. During the search, officers were able to recover 11 kgs of poppy straw like contraband substance from their possession.

Moreover, a police party headed by Incharge Police Post Mirbazar established a special checkpoint at Alstop and intercepted a vehicle (Auto Load Carrier) bearing Registration No JK18B-4430 with 2 persons onboard. They have been identified as Aarif Ahmad Malla resident of Domidulla Tujan, Anantnag and  Jasweer Singh resident of Pandoola Jalandar, Punjab. During checking, officers were able to recover 25 grams of heroin-like contraband substance from their possession.

All the accused have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Qazigund and further investigations have been initiated.

“We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” police said.
