4 drug peddlers arrested in Budgam, Sopore
Srinagar, Sep 08: Police have arrested 4 drug peddlers in Budgam and Sopore and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party of Police Station Khag at a checkpoint established at Hardu Suresh, Khag, intercepted three suspicious persons carrying a nylon bag who on seeing the police party tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully. They have been identified as Rayees Ahmed Khan, Irfan Ahmed Dar and Firdous Ahmad Bhat, all residents of Hardu Suresh Khag. During the search, 3 kgs of poppy straw and 55 grams of charas were recovered from their possession.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No 66/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Khag and investigation has been initiated.
Meanwhile in Sopore, a police party of Police Post Warpora headed by IC PP Warpora under the supervision of SDPO Sopore, at a checkpoint established at Janwara Crossing, apprehended a suspected person identified as Sageer Ahmad Mir, resident of Janwara Sopore. During the search, 113 grams of charas was recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at police station Sopore and investigation has been initiated.
All the drug peddlers have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations and investigations have been initiated. "General Public is requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per the law," police said.
