Jammu, Apr 10: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has stated that 32474 vacancies are available with 38 administrative departments in J&K as on January 31, 2025. These vacancies were under gazetted, non-gazetted and Class IV (MTS) categories.

“The Government has issued clear directions to all Administrative Departments to fix targets to be achieved for the first 100 days and one year (November 20, 2024 to November 20, 2025). These directions include stepping up the efforts to complete recruitment against available vacancies in a time-bound and transparent manner,” the Chief Minister has remarked.

He has shared this information with the House in a written reply to the question of CPI (M) MLA M Y Tarigami, in the just concluded budget session of J&K Legislative Assembly. CM Omar has informed that during the last ten years, 10762 posts were referred to Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) and 9080 selections were made. Similarly, 54540 vacancies were referred to Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) and 49564 selections were made. With regard to directions to departments to fix targets to be achieved in 100 days and in one year, the Chief Minister has pointed out that in this regard, the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission and Jammu & Kashmir Service Selection Board have been directed to adopt a “proactive, target-based approach to complete recruitment on priority and in a time-bound manner.”

“A total of 1502 Gazetted vacancies and 5751 Non-gazetted vacancies are envisaged to be filled up by the year end,” he has shared. As per the information shared by the Chief Minister with the House, 13,466 Non-Gazetted vacancies stand referred to J&K Services Selection Board during the last 2 years. Out of these vacancies referred to the Board, 9351 selections have been made by the JKSSB during the last two years. “2390 gazetted vacancies were referred to the JKPSC during the past two years. Out of these referred vacancies, 2,175 selections have been made by the JKPSC during the last 2 years. 10,757 Class-lV (MTS) vacancies have been identified by the various departments which are under scrutiny for concurrence of the Finance Department and shall be referred to the recruiting agencies in due course of time,” the Chief Minister has informed. According to him, more than 6,000 vacancies are ready for referral to the recruiting agencies. “These vacancies shall be referred to the recruiting agencies shortly for making selections,” CM Omar has shared.
