3 vehicles involved in illegal extraction of minerals seized in Awantipora: Police

Srinagar, Oct 08: In continuation of its ongoing drive against illegal mining Jammu and Kashmir Police seized three vehicles used in illegal excavation and transportation of minerals in Wuyun Khrew.

A police official said that acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, a Police party of Police Station Khrew headed by SHO Police Station Khrew seized three vehicles bearing registration JK19-9468, JK13B-9154 & JK15B-0013. Accordingly, case vide FIR NO. 76/2025 under section 303(2), 223 Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered in Police Station Khrew and further investigation has been initiated.

Police reiterated its firm commitment to curb illegal mining and safeguard natural resources of the district.

They urged citizens to extend cooperation by reporting such unlawful activities, and maintained that confidentiality of informants will be ensured, and strict action will be taken against violators as per law.
