3 killed, 25 injured in Gundoh road accident
Ramban, July 13: Three persons including two women died and 25 others were injured when a mini bus in which they were travelling skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge at Batyass area of Gundoh in Doda district on Saturday.
Police sources said the accident occurred at Bhatyas on Thathari –Gundoh link road. The mini bus bearing registration number JK06B-0469 was on its way to Thathari. It skidded off the road and fell into 200 feet deep gorge in Malikpora area of Bathyass resulting in on spot death of two women and injuries to 26 passengers including driver of the vehicle. However, the latter also succumbed mounting death toll to three.
They said soon after the accident locals, volunteers, rescue teams of police reached the spot and retrieved dead and injured from the deep gorge and shifted them to CHC Gundoh . Fifteen critically injured passengers were shifted to Associated Government Medical College and Hospital Doda for specified treatment. Two injured were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu.
Deputy Commissioner Doda Harvinder Singh personally monitored rescue operations at the accident site on Bahtayass Gundoh.
Police identified the two deceased women passengers as Bushira Begum (50), wife of Mussa resident of Chatroo, Kishtwar and Saleema Begum (60) wife of Sadardin resident of Kahara, Gundoh and driver of the vehicle Asif Shafi 22 son of Mohammad Shafi resident Ali , Gangota.
SHO Police Station Gundoh Inspector Parvaiz Khanday confirmed the death of three persons in the accident.
