3 J&K leaders in India’s anti-terror diplomacy
Jammu, May 19: Former chief minister and former union minister Ghulam Nabi Azad; National Conference (NC) Member of Parliament (MP) Mian Altaf, and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha member Ghulam Ali Khatana will be the three representatives from J&K in the All Party Delegations (APDs) set to visit key partner countries, including members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) later this month to project national consensus on ëOperation Sindoorí.
As per the information related to seven groups released by the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju on his ëXí handle, Azad will be part of the eight-member Group 1 to be led by BJP MP Baijayant Panda.
This group will visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Algeria.
BJP MP Khatana will be part of eight-member Group 2 to be led by former union minister and BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad.
This group will visit the UK, France, Germany, the EU, Italy, and Denmark.
MP and former minister Mian Altaf will be part of eight-member Group 6 to be led by DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi.
The countries to be covered by this group will include Spain, Greece, Slovenia, Latvia, and Russia.
ìThe All-Party Delegations will project Indiaís national consensus and resolute approach to combating terrorism in all forms and manifestations. They would carry forth to the world the countryís strong message of zero-tolerance against terrorism,î Rijiju wrote.
Other four groups are to be led by MPs Shashi Tharoor of Indian National Congress (INC); Sanjay Kumar Jha of Janata Dal (United); Supriya Sule of Nationalist Congress Party and Shrikant Eknath Shinde of Shiv Sena.
Besides MPs, ex-MPs and former union ministers, the seven delegations will also include eight ambassadors - Harsh Shringla (Group 1); Pankaj Saran (Group 2); Mohan Kumar (Group 3); Sujan Chinoy (Group 4); Taranjit Singh Sandhu (Group 5); Manjeev S Puri; Jawed Ashraf (Group 6) and Syed Akbaruddin (Group 7).
Other members of the group led by Panda will include BJP MPs Nishikant Dubey, Phangnon Konyak, Rekha Sharma; AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi and nominated MP Satnam Singh Sandhu besides Azad.
Group 2, helmed by Prasad, will have BJP MP Daggubati Purandeswari; Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi; INC MP Amar Singh; BJP MP Samik Bhattacharya; ex-MP and former Minister M J Akbar besides Khatana, nominated BJP MP from J&K in Rajya Sabha.
Nine-member Group 3, to be led by Jha, will have BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi; AITC MP Yusuf Pathan; BJP MP Brij Lal; CPI (M) MP John Brittas; BJP MPs Pradan Baruah, Hemang Joshi and former union minister Salman Khurshid from Congress. This Group will visit Indonesia, Malaysia, Republic of Korea, Japan and Singapore.
Eight-member Group 4, being led by Shinde, will have BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj; IUML MP E T Mohammed Basheer; BJP MP Atul Garg; BJD MP Sasmit Patra; BJP MP Manan Kumar Mishra and former MP S S Ahluwalia. They will visit UAE, Liberia, Democratic Republic of Congo and Sierra Leone.
Nine-member Group 5, to be led by Tharoor, will have LJP (Ram Vilas) MP Shambhavi; JMM MP Dr Sarafaraz Ahmad; TDP MP G M Harish Balayogi; BJP MPs Shashank Mani Tripathi, Bhubaneswar Kalita; Shiv Sena MP Milind Murli Deora and BJP MP Tejasvi Surya. This group will visit the USA, Panama, Guyana, Brazil and Colombia.
Group 6, led by Kanimozhi, will have SP MP Rajeev Rai; BJP MP Captain Brijesh Chowta; RJD MP Prem Chand Gupta; AAP MP Ashok Kumar Mittal besides NCís Mian Altaf.
Nine-member Group 7, being helmed by Sule, will have BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy; AAP MLA Vikramjeet Singh Sahney; INC MP Manish Tewari; BJP MP Anurag Singh Thakur; TDP MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu; former minister Anand Sharma of Congress and ex-MP V Muraleedharan. This group will visit Egypt, Qatar, Ethiopia and South Africa.
