3 houses gutted in Solina blaze

Srinagar, Dec 23: Three houses were gutted in a fire incident at Solina locality here.

Officials of Fire and Emergency Services said the incident occurred on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. They said eight fire tenders from Headquarters, GawKadal, MR Gunj, and Rawalpora were pressed into service to douse off the fire.

“Three double-storey houses were gutted in the fire incident. The fire started from one of the houses and soon spread to adjacent houses. The cause of the fire is not known yet and the same is being investigated,” said the official.

The fire victims said that they lost all their belongings and requested authorities for help. “My wife is suffering from an ailment and was hospitalised. I was in hospital when I heard about the incident. My brother’s house is adjacent to my house which was also gutted. My daughters and a niece are to be married next year and we bought gold and clothes for them. All our valuables were gutted in the fire incident,” said Muhammad Ayoub Dar, a fire victim.
