3 houses gutted in Noorbagh blaze

Srinagar, Sep 09: At least three residential houses were gutted in a fire incident at Noorbagh locality today.

Officials said that they received information about the incident at around 7 am. They said that multiple fire tenders from Headquarters, Rawalpora, Safakadal, SH Pora were pressed to douse off the fire.

“These were all three double-story houses that were gutted in the fire incident. The fire started from one of the houses and soon spread to adjacent houses. As per our investigation, an electric short circuit caused the fire in one of the houses and soon spread across other houses,” said the official.

“We were able to control the fire in time and there was no loss of life or injury reported. The prompt action by the units of fire and emergency service ensured that fire is kept from spreading into adjacent area,” he said.

Witnesses said that many families lost their belongings in the incident. They said locals also tried to help with the efforts, but the fire spread quickly. The locals appealed to the administration for all possible help to the fire victims.
