3 houses gutted in Hawal blaze

Srinagar, Feb 28:  At least three houses were gutted in a fire incident at Hawal locality in Downtown today.

As per officials from Fire and Emergency Services, the fire incident occurred at 7.14 am and soon spread to the other houses.

Nine fire tenders from Headquarters, Gaw kadal, MR Gunj, and Nowshera were pressed to douse the fire.

“Three houses were involved in the fire incident. The fire started from one of the houses and soon spread to adjacent houses. Cause of the fire is not known yet and the same will be investigated,” said the official.

The officials said that one fireman from F&E department was injured during the operations. “He was shifted to hospital for the necessary medical treatment,” they said.

The operations to douse off the fire were still on when this report was filed.
