3 gamblers nabbed in Sopore | Stake money recovered

Sopore, Jan 2: A Police party of Police Station Sopore, raided a suspected gambling site at Muslim Peer area of Sopore in north kashmir and apprehended 3 gamblers.

The stake money of `15000 was recovered on spot along with a set of playing cards .

Police officials said they took cognisance of the matter and all the gamblers were booked under case FIR No 2/2024 section 13 of Gambling Act stands in Police station Sopore. Further investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Gamblers were identified as Rameez Reyaz Dar of Kralteng Sopore, Mohd Ashraf Dar of Muslimpeer Sopore and Mohd Ayoub Dar of Muslimpeer Sopore.

“People of the area have appreciated the role of Sopore police for being prompt against such social evils. Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt strictly as per law. Sopore Police requested the general public to come forward with such information and join hands with the police to be strict against such social elements,” police said.
