3 gamblers arrested in Sopore

Sopore, Mar 21: Continuing its drive against social crimes, Police have arrested three gamblers in Sopore and seized stake money from their possession.

Acting on specific information about gambling activities in the orchards of village Reban, a police party raided the specific spot and arrested the 3 gamblers on the spot. They have been identified as Mohammad Akbar Sheikh, resident of Hadipora, Sajad Ahmad Dar, resident of Parrypora Hadipora and Bashir Ahmad Tantray resident of Reban.

Officers have seized stake money of Rs 7160 and playing cards from the gamblers. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore and further investigation has been taken up. “People found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units,” police said.
