3 drug peddlers arrested with heroin in Jammu

Jammu, Oct 13: Police Sunday arrested three drug peddlers with heroin in Miran Sahib.

The arrests were made under Operation ‘Sanjeevani’, launched against drug trafficking and substance abuse.

“A Police team, led by SHO Miran Sahib, while on routine patrolling, rounded up three suspects at a checkpoint below the flyover at Ring Road Kotli Mian Fateh. They were apprehended, while they were coming to Miran Sahib on a motorcycle (JKO2DG 7767),” Police said.

Those arrested were identified as Muhammad Mushtaq alias Channi, son of Muhammad Butta of village Kothey Sheikh, Miran Sahib; Shubham Sharma, son of Pawan Kumar of Kashmiri Basti, Brij Nagar, and Vishal Kataria, son of Subash Chander of village Gazian, R S Pura.

“During the search, approximately 50 gm of heroin was recovered from their possession. In this regard, case FIR No 101/2024 under Sections 8, 21, 22, 29, and 60 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Miran Sahib and the accused were arrested. Further, an investigation of the case is going on. Police in Jammu are working intensively to uproot the chains of drug supply in the region and thorough questioning of the accused persons is going on to know the origin of the drug supply chain. Police are striving hard and taking every possible step to make people especially youth aware to eradicate the drug menace,” Police said.
