3 drug peddlers arrested in Baramulla, Sopore

Srinagar, Feb 10: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 2 drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A police party headed at a checkpoint established at Tapper near NHW intercepted 2 persons who tried to flee away from the spot but were apprehended tactfully. They have been identified as Mohammad Aqib Ganie resident of Takiya Tapper and Jahangir Ahmad Ganie resident of Rengi. During the search, 3 kgs of cannabis powder was recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to the police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at the police station and investigation has been initiated.

In its continued commitment to combating the scourge of drug abuse from the society, Police in Sopore has made a significant breakthrough by apprehending a drug peddler and recovered psychotropic substances from his possession.

During patrolling at Baghat, Butpora Sopore, a police team intercepted a suspicious person carrying a polythene bag. He has been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Najar resident of Mumkak, Butpora Sopore. During the search, officers were able to recover 13 bottles of codeine phosphate (each containing 100 ml) from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at police station Sopore and investigation has been initiated.
