3 drug peddlers arrested in Baramulla

Baramulla, Feb 8: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 2 drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered psychotropic substances from their possession.

A police party at a checkpoint established at Tapper Bala Kreeri intercepted a vehicle truck bearing registration number JK05L-3267 with 2 persons onboard identified as Aqib Ahmad Dar and Tanveer Ahmad Malla, both residents of Mahrajpora Sopore. During the search, officers were able to recover 432 capsules of SpasmoProxyvon Plus and 5 syrups of Codeine Phosphate from their possession. They were arrested and shifted to Police Station Kreeri where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kreeri and investigation has been initiated.

Meanwhile, Police have arrested a drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from his possession.

A police party at a checkpoint established at Laghama Uri intercepted a person identified as Manzoor Ahmad Janjua resident of Machikrund. During the search, officers were able to recover 36 grams of charas-like substance from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station Uri where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Uri and investigation has been initiated.

“We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” police said.
