3 dead in Budgam well accident
Budgam, May 29: Three persons died after they fell in a well in Gotipora village of Khansahib in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday.
As per the officials, the incident occurred when a person identified as Momin Dar slipped and fell into a well.
The officials said that on seeing him falling into the well, two persons Amjad Hussain and Ghulam Hassan Wani, both residents of Gotipora, rushed to rescue him.
“These two people also fell into the well, causing bedlam in the locality. As locals informed the officials about the incident, a rescue operation was started,” officials said.
Police officials said multiple rescue teams were called to save the trio.
However, all three lost their lives.
“Police and teams of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) worked tirelessly to rescue the trio. In addition to the Police, SDRF and F&ES were also pressed to rescue the three persons. Unfortunately, the bodies of three persons were retrieved by late evening,” a Police official said.
He said that the rescue teams had deployed all the necessary equipment and floodlights for the operation.
A pal of gloom descended on the village, with locals and relatives in grief.
