Jammu, Dec 10: Police Tuesday arrested three criminals involved in an 'attempt to murder' case in the Kanachak area of Jammu and also recovered a sharp-edged weapon used in the crime.

“In a major breakthrough, Jammu Police have arrested three criminals involved in an 'attempt to murder' case reported in the Kanachak area in Jammu. The swift action comes as part of the police’s continued efforts to crack down on criminal activities in the region,” said a Police spokesperson.

According to spokesperson, the case stems from a complaint filed on December 5, 2024 at Police Station Kanachak by Ajay Kumar, son of Sham Lal, resident of Pandorian, tehsil Jammu North. The complainant alleged that he was attacked by three individuals, namely Paramjeet Singh alias Pamma, son of Sohan Singh; Joginder Lal alias Jinder, son of Lakshman Dass, both residents of Pandorian and Balvinder Kumar alias Balu, son of Charan Dass, resident of Bhore Camp, Chatha, Jammu.

“The accused reportedly used a toka (sharp-edged weapon) and lathi during the assault, leaving the complainant with serious injuries. He was later shifted to GMC Jammu for treatment,” Police Spokesperson said.

“Following the registration of FIR No 187/24 under Sections 126(2), 351(2), 109, 3(5) BNS and 4/25 Arms Act, a dedicated team of officers launched an investigation. After conducting multiple raids, the police successfully apprehended all three accused. Upon sustained interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in the crime. The arms used were recovered based on their disclosure,” spokesperson said.

Additionally, the vehicle used in the commission of the crime, a Safari, bearing registration number JK02AR0024, was also seized by the Police.

“The case is currently under further investigation,” the spokesperson said.
