3 chemist shops sealed in Anantnag for billing regulation violations
Anantnag, Nov 7: In a move to enforce strict adherence to licensing guidelines, the Drug Control Department in Anantnag has suspended the operations of three chemist shops for failing to implement computerised billing systems.
The suspensions occurred during an inspection of 42 establishments across the district for two days.
“Operations of three shops were suspended on the spot for not installing computerised billing systems,” Assistant Drug Controller Rumaisa Muhamad told Greater Kashmir.
She added that eight additional notices were issued to other establishments found violating various licensing conditions.
To further ensure product quality and safety, inspection teams collected 33 samples of antibiotics and four samples of cosmetics for testing and analysis.
“Our department remains committed to safeguarding public health by enforcing drug regulations and ensuring the availability of quality medicines and cosmetics,” said Rumaisa.
Aashiq Hussain, Drug Control Officer of Anantnag, emphasised the importance of record-keeping for drug sales, especially for medications prone to misuse.
"Surveillance systems in outlets and proper drug storage conditions remain our top priorities," Hussain said.
He said the Drug Control Department aims to maintain high standards across the district, ensuring compliance for the safety and well-being of the public.
