3 charge-sheeted for police officer’s murder

Jammu, July 9: Special Crime Wing of Crime Branch of J&K Police has filed the first chargesheet against three criminals involved in the murder of PSI Deepak Sharma at GMC Kathua on April 2, 2024.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted by Special DGP Crime under the chairmanship of Sandeep Mehta, SSP, SCW Crime Branch Jammu to probe this case.

Three criminals namely Himanshu Bassi of Nawa Shaher, Teja of SBS Nagar and Jasvir Singh alias Baba of SBS Nagar Punjab were arrested from Punjab.

According to police spokesperson, another accused Rohit Kumar alias Makhan resident of R S Pura, Jammu has been traced in Jalandhar and his custody would be taken shortly from Punjab Police.

“The preliminary chargesheet in this case was filed on Monday in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Kathua against three accused persons after completion of investigation and the offences against them were proved. They are presently in judicial lockup. Further investigation in the case is underway,” spokesperson said.
