Kupwara, Sep 19: Second Randomization of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for all the six assembly Constituencies (ACs) of Kupwara district was held today in presence of General Election Observers, candidates and representatives of different political parties.

Under the Second phase of Randomization, the EVMs were allocated to all the polling stations of six assembly constituencies through a dedicated online Software JKEDIS as per the prescribed guidelines of Election Commission of India (ECI) under the supervision of General Observer Trehgam, Kupwara P. Hema Latha; General Observer Handwara, Pankaj K. Panday; General Observer, Karnah, Prakash Bindu; General Observer, Lolab, Tshewang Gyachho Bhutia and District Election Officer (DEO), Kupwara, Ms.Ayushi Sudan .

The second randomization allocated EVMs including Ballot Units, Control Units and VVPATs to polling stations of all six assembly constituencies including Karnah, Trehgam, Kupwara, Lolab, Handwara and Langate assembly constituencies.

Following the randomization, an interaction was also held among the General Observers, Returning Officers and the candidates and representatives of political parties to clear all doubts and queries related to the election process.

It was informed on the occasion that all the prerequisites are being fulfilled as per the ECI mandate for smooth, fair and peaceful elections in all six assembly constituencies of the district.

DEO said that home voting is being conducted on September 23, 24 and 25 to facilitate Voters above 85 years of age and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) with 40 per cent benchmark disability criteria. She said that teams for the home voting have been constituted to facilitate the senior citizens and PWD voters.

DEO further said that on the same dates, September 23, 24 and 25 Postal ballot voting will also be held where service voters, employees on election duties, and employees carrying out essential service duties can use their right to franchise.

ROs, Dy. District Election Officer Kupwara, District Informatics officer,(NIC), candidates, their agents and others concerned were present in the meeting.
