2nd Army Commanders’ Conference 2025: Future-Ready Army: Top brass discuss modernisation, operational readiness
Srinagar, Oct 7: The Second Army Commanders’ Conference (ACC) for 2025 is currently underway in New Delhi, focusing on operational readiness, infrastructure development, and assessment of the national and regional security environment.
A key event in the Indian Army’s annual calendar, the ACC provides a platform for the Army’s top leadership to deliberate on strategic, operational, and administrative matters impacting national defence and military preparedness.
Chaired by Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, the two-day conference brings together all Army Commanders, Principal Staff Officers from Army Headquarters, and senior representatives from the Ministry of Defence.
Sources in the defence establishment said the conference will focus on shaping a modern, agile, and technology-enabled force capable of responding effectively to the full spectrum of security challenges, including border management, cross-border terrorism, cyber warfare, and hybrid threats.
Force modernisation and capability development remain a priority, with reviews of ongoing projects such as the induction of next-generation weapons, upgrades to existing platforms, and integration of indigenous defence technologies under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.
Organisational reforms, including restructuring of Army formations to enhance operational efficiency and progress on Theatre Commands, were also discussed, alongside human resource management issues like training, welfare, career progression, and the long-term impact of the Agnipath scheme.
Operational readiness along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and Line of Control (LoC), as well as infrastructure development in strategically sensitive areas, formed another key theme of deliberation.
During his inaugural address, General Dwivedi emphasised continuous transformation to maintain strategic and tactical superiority. “The ACC is a platform for bold, forward-looking decisions. We are committed to building a future-ready Army, rooted in professionalism, empowered by technology, and responsive to national imperatives,” sources said.
